- What will be the inspiration for your table at Tables That Bloom this year?
This year we are focusing on natural, inherent beauty. Once again we are focusing on the celebration of spring through growth and color, but through a more organic feel. My inspiration derives from beauty found in imperfections, looking at whole pictures instead of tiny details, and appreciating things for what they are, not what we want them to become.
- How do you define “success” in your business?
We define success as creating something for our clients that takes their breath away visually and also gives them a great experience to look back on. When people say “I don’t know how this would have happened without you”, we know we’ve done our part in supporting that particular client in the best possible way. Every person and every event is different, so it’s a challenge sometimes to make that mission a reality for everyone we work with. When we do, it reminds us why we started in the first place.
- How has social media impacted your work? Have you used it to your benefit?
Social media has created a new way for us to share our work with a variety of different groups of people. From other creatives, to potential clients, to simply lovers of beautiful things, we are always so eager to share with our followers. We also love finding other creatives and inspiration people to follow and support along their journey. Overall, I feel like social media has helped bring the industry closer together and made finding that *perfect* vendor that much easier.
- What is your biggest strength?
My biggest personal strength is to take what is available and envision it as something more. I feel like some people might feel trapped or uninspired by what’s around them, while I make it a mission to make use of what’s available before trying to bring something new in.
- What do you do to “go green?”
Environmentalism is a huge priority in our company. We are constantly working towards becoming more and more eco-friendly and environmentally responsible. As mentioned, we place a huge emphasis on utilizing existing materials and “upcycling”. We also have begun a small event décor inventory called Mira Private Collection, in which we procure items used at previous events, or items found at garage sales and swap meets, to rent or fabricate into something new for future clients.
- If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
This is a hard question! I love penguins, lemurs, horses, and dolphins but I think if I could be anything it would be an owl. I would love to fly and to have the “super” eyesight and hearing they have!
- What do you like to do in your free time, aside from your craft?
My go-to physical activities are hiking, yoga, and ice hockey- all of which I enjoy doing with my two children, Aidan and Avia. My biggest passion is music, and I am a closet singer working on making her out into the real world In whatever time I have left, I love to read, write, and laugh with the people I love.
